TEAM NAVIGATORS

Sunday Games - 30 January 2011 - Rollrite winning stars!!!

Tight at the top... Finals day at last and the question was who would be crowned the 2011 champions? We still had one round left in the team event and Strike Bowling Club in group A looked to have already booked a place in the finals but who would be joining them, could it be the Romanians, Italians or Cypriots? As for group B all four teams were on three points and the Navigators looking win their event, Rollrite, Jura Powerhouse and Glyfada any one of them could make it.
The only this we did know was that it was going to be a fantastic days bowling and would be available worldwide on our live streaming.

So on we went and a nervous Navigators in group B lost their first game against Jura but then went mental racing to a 6-1 lead before Juri kept them at bay for a game but finally lost 2-7, Rollrite never looked in too much troble as they too raced to a 6-1 lead and same as the Navigators had to wait for the win as Glyfada came back at the before Rollrite took the match 7-2. Group A was a lot closers in the end as the LBA Allstars took on and defeated IDM 7-3 and from fourth place went up to second and into a semi final match against the also Cypriot Navigators team. No such trouble for the early leaders Strike BC as they beat the Italian ASD New Star team 7-4 and would meet Rollrite in the semi finals.

We found our two finalists after the semi finals, first the Navigators came flying out of the blocks and soon has a 6-1 lead over the LBA Allstars but had to wait before they could relax as the Allstars staged a mini comeback but it ended 7-2 and the Navigators would meet the winners of the second semi final.
Rollrite also came out fighting with a 3-0 before being pegged back to 3-2 but the English showed their class and ran out 7-2 winners.

Earlier was the singles masters and in our first match Rollrite's Darren Cundy went up against Stavros Parasakis of the Navigators, both players struggled to line up the strikes but Cundy did enough to win 193-152.In the second semifinal LBA Allstars George Panayiotou played ASD New Stars Marco Reviglio and despite the Italian Reviglio missing a single pin in the tenth frame George failed to capitalise and threw a split to hand the match to Reviglio 193-207. In the title match that went down to the wire it was the Italian Marco Reviglio that just edged out an unlucky Darren Cundy 170-168 to claim the singles title.

It was the final that the Navigators dreamed of a chance to play the mighty Rollrite and hopefully win the title. The match was a tense too and with one team leading then the next leveling the match, time after time the teams battles in the individualmatches went right down to the last frame making this must see watching for the livestream viewers and crowd, The stream at the end had over 1300 people willing the Navs and Rollrite on and it was left to Darren Cundy to win the evnt for the English when he defeated the Navigators captain Kostas Kyriakou by the smallest of margins, What a final and what an event.
